The mayor of the city of Tuguegarao positive for Covid

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan: Mayor Maila Rosario Ting-Que of this city has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now in isolation.

In a social media post on Sunday, July 31, Ting-Que said it was Thursday morning that she fell ill and requested an antigen test which came back negative.

“Due to the progression of symptoms on Friday evening, I decided to self-quarantine and had another antigen test this Sunday morning, which this time came back positive,” she said.

Ting-Que said she also had a confirmatory reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test with the same results.

She said that all sanitary protocols are in place and have already started with contact tracing and disinfection of the mayor’s office and common areas of the town hall have also been carried out.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to people with whom we were in close contact during our dealings for the government and the people,” Ting-Que added.

Ting-Que asks those who have been in close contact with her to call Dr James Guzman on 09175781029 with any concerns, especially for symptoms and testing.

The mayor said dealings in city government will remain business as usual with adherence to minimum health protocols mandated by the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

“The city mayor’s office will continue to provide services to our residents as I will perform my duties and responsibilities remotely,” Ting-Que added.
