The Government of Quebec is preparing to vaccinate the younger population

The local government in Quezon City is preparing for pediatric vaccination of minors aged 5-11 against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) which is expected to take place in February.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) previously granted emergency use authorization for Pfizer BioNTech’s vaccine to be used for children ages 5 to 11.

“Finally, our young children will have the opportunity to receive the protection they so desperately need to experience some kind of normalcy in their lives after being locked up in their homes for so long to prevent the risk of infection,” the mayor said. said Joy Belmonte.

“Pediatric vaccines for 5-11 year olds will ensure that they no longer suffer from the side effects of prolonged immobility such as mental health problems, and will be able to spend time with their parents and older siblings in recreational environments and possibly going back to face-to-face classes,” she added.

“We are now synchronizing the list of children enrolled in our schools and those included in the census of our barangays so that we can identify the number of children eligible for this series of pediatric vaccinations”, QC Task Force Vax to Normal Coordinator Dr. Maria Lourdes says Eleria.

It consolidates a master list of all children between the ages of 5 and 11 residing in the city.

Eleria clarified that the National COVID-19 Task Force (NTF) and the Department of Health (DOH) have yet to issue additional guidance to help the city properly implement the vaccination program.

“We must adhere to national government guidelines, particularly regarding issues such as the amount of doses, requirements for eligible vaccination sites, vaccine administration protocols and other special instructions for implementation in safety of the vaccination program for the youngest. people,” she said.

The local government is also preparing its online registration system where parents can register their children for vaccination at the time and place of their choice.
