PCSO sells 8.2 million STL shares to DOJ, NBI – Manila Bulletin
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) presented a check worth 8,223,195.60 pesos to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) as part of their small lottery actions cities (STL).
The check was personally presented by PCSO President Junie Cua and General Manager Melquiades Robles in a speedy ceremony on Monday, September 5, held at the DOJ office in Ermita, Manila.
DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla and NBI Director Medardo De Lemos received the check on behalf of their respective agencies.
The STL shares handed in are for April and May 2022, PCSO said.
In a Philippine News Agency report dated September 2, the Philippine National Police (PNP) also received an STL share from the PCSO worth 11,149,559.87 pesos.
PNP Police Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., the recipient of the check, said in the report that the amount will be allocated to police personnel and the health services of their dependents.
STL is a mass local lottery controlled and operated by PCSO.
Thanks to the income from the STL, the PCSO does not only help people who seek medical or other assistance, but also various government institutions.
By law, the PCSO is required to allocate 30% of its revenue to charitable services, 55% to gaming prizes and the remaining 15% to operations.
