P38M lifted for Kalinga projects

TABUK CITY, Kalinga: Representative Allen Jesse Mangaoang has been able to procure some P83 million from various government agencies to support the implementation of social programs benefiting the people of the province for this year.

Mangaoang, who chairs the House Committee on Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples, revealed that funds have been fairly distributed among relevant government agencies to support the provision of appropriate assistance to address the economic impact. and on employment inflicted by the Covid-19 pandemic. .

Most of the original fund, amounting to 31 million pesos, is deposited with the Ministry of Labor and Employment to continue the implementation of the government internship program and the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa program. Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers.

In addition, some P27 million has been provided by the legislator of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Development for regular crisis assistance for people from the seven cities and the only city in the province.

On the other hand, some 22 million pesos have been made available by the Ministry of Health for government medical assistance to indigent patients to meet the health and other medical needs of the people.

Health facilities where funds have been allocated by Mangaoang include Kalinga Provincial Hospital, Cagayan Valley Medical Center, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, Philippine Heart Center, National Institute of Kidney and Training, Philippine General Hospital and Philippine Pulmonary Center.

Mangaoang stipulated that some 3 million pesos have also been made available by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority for a special training program for those interested in undergoing vocational training for employment.

He expressed his gratitude to the heads of the various agencies for enabling the provision of the said financial support to the people of Kalinga as this will play an important role in reducing the burden of people seeking assistance to qualify for the different social programs. of the government.

He hopes the funds will be consumed by the end of the year for another wave of funds to be deposited with relevant government agencies for next year once President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. enacts the national budget for 5.26 trillion pesos before the end. of the year.

He admitted that many people come to his office daily to seek the assistance available for their various needs, therefore he asked the heads of said offices to consider increasing the allocation for his social programs so that more people can benefit from the same during the year when the funds are readily available.
