The local government of Muntinlupa continues to provide zero-interest loan assistance to micro-entrepreneurs and MSMEs dubbed “Muntipreneurs” in a bid to revive the local economy stalled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Four local entrepreneurs received 150,000 pesos each, seven received 100,000 pesos and five beneficiaries received 75,000 pesos.

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi is committed to continuing the local funding program and hopes to revive the local economy by supporting actors on the ground through various programs.

The city government supports local micro-entrepreneurs through the Joint Resource Funding Program (JRFP) Tulong Negosyo (formerly Dagdag Puhunan). Muntinlupa is the first LGU to introduce the micro-finance program.

Tulong Negosyo caters to MSMEs and provides micro-finance support ranging from 2,000 to 150,000 pesos, depending on the capital ceiling of the business and the recipients’ payment history. The program aims to provide additional capital for business expansion for aspiring and established business owners in Muntinlupa.

The Tulong Negosyo program has three categories, namely Simulang Kapital (SIKAP) Pangkabuhayan with a loan application in the amount of 2,000 to 5,000 pesos; Asenso loan program in the amount of 6,000 to 75,000 pesos; and the Maunlad loan program in the amount of 75,000 to 150,000 pesos.

In addition, a savings program has been integrated into loan assistance to teach clients the importance of saving and to serve as protection for clients and the program.

Recently, JRFP launched a restructuring program extending beneficiary payment schedules in an effort to help them recover from losses due to the pandemic.

Due to the limitations of face-to-face transactions, the Tulong Negosyo has also implemented online application services and a cashless reimbursement system through Smart Padala and GCash.
