Manila Cathedral offers prayers for Pope Francis

Manila Cathedral in Intramuros on Sunday, March 13, urged worshipers to pray for Pope Francis who celebrated his ninth year in the pontificate.

“Join us in a moment of prayer for our beloved Pope Francis who today celebrates the ninth anniversary of his election as pope. Mabuhay po kayo, Lolo Kiko! the cathedral said in a Facebook post.

The cathedral also published a prayer for the pope below: “O God, who has chosen your servant Francis to succeed the apostle Peter as shepherd of all the flock, look favorably upon the supplications of your people and grant that in as Vicar of Christ on earth, may he confirm his brothers and may the whole Church be in communion with him in the bond of unity, love and peace. Amen.”

Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Pope Francis celebrated his 80th birthday on Saturday December 17.

He assumed the papacy in March 2013 as the 266th pope of the Roman Catholic Church.

Pope Francis visited the Philippines in January 2015 to bring Christ’s compassion to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda and the earthquake in the Visayas.
