Administration of the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for minors aged 12 to 17 has started in Muntinlupa.

As of November 16, a total of 13,790 minors had received the first dose of the vaccine, equivalent to 25% of the estimated population of 55,391 for ages 12 to 17 in Muntinlupa, according to the Muntinlupa City COVID-19 Vaccination Program ( MunCoVac).

Of the 13,790 minors, 199 were fully vaccinated or received the second dose of the vaccine. A total of 13,989 doses of the vaccine were administered to minors.

The Muntinlupa city government began vaccinating minors on October 25 using the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

According to the Emergency Use Clearance (EUA) issued by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, “the second dose should be administered three (3) weeks after the first dose”.

The FDA has also approved Moderna vaccine for use for ages 12 and older, and its second dose is given 28 days after the first dose.

As of November 16, 30,277 young people aged 12 to 17 have registered with MunCoVac for vaccination, or 55% of the city’s underage population.

Of the total, 2,279, or 7.5%, have comorbidities, classified by the Department of Health (DOH) as pediatric group A3, while 27,998, or 92.5%, are “healthy children.” health ”or without comorbidities.

Minors with comorbidities are only vaccinated at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa, managed by the city. For “healthy children” or those without comorbidities, the vaccination sites in Muntinlupa are the SM Center Muntinlupa, the Ayala Malls South Park, the New Cupang Health Center and the Sucat indoor court.
