A total of 400 Bulakenyos who received their first COVID-19 vaccine last October 14 lined up on Thursday, November 4 to receive their second Pfizer vaccine at the Vista Mall in the town of Malolos, Bulacan.
Lilian Antonette Fan, an information technology graduate student at Bulacan State University (BSU), said she decided to get the vaccine to protect her from serious infection and even death.
Governor Daniel R. Fernando said most of the people who were due to receive their second jab at Vista Mall are students from different schools in Bulacan, including BSU and Bulacan Polytechnic Colleges, and AMA Computer Learning Center in the town of Malolos.
He encouraged young people, ages 12 to 17, to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by filling out the registration form at tinyurl.com/BULACANPediaReg for pediatric vaccination.
On Wednesday, November 3, Bulacan province began vaccination of the pediatric age group, 12 to 17 years old, at the Bulacan provincial COVID-19 vaccination site, at the Hiyas ng Bulacan convention center in the town of Malolos.
Fernando said the total underage population in the province is 500,000 and vaccination of children with co-morbidities is a priority.
He also stressed the importance of getting vaccinated, especially now that minors can get out of their homes and play contact sports, as quarantine restrictions have been relaxed in the province below Alert Level 2.
Fernando said he would only allow limited face-to-face lessons in the province when students have already been vaccinated against COVID-19.
